I had to take my son to the dentist this past week. As I was sitting in the lobby waiting for him, I was doing what I often do.  No one else was in the room with me and I began looking at apps on my phone. I first read from God’s Word on the Bible app, then I checked email to make sure I hadn’t overlooked anything of importance. Next, I looked at Facebook for a few minutes then I turned off the phone and sat in silence.

It was then that it really caught my attention. You see, I had seen it when I sat down but didn’t pay it much attention. It was like God said look at this!

It was a really big aquarium the dentist office has in the lobby. There are some big fish in that giant glass box of water and there are some that are quite small, especially in comparison to the others. Some of the fish were rather colorful, while others were what I would describe as having “normal” coloring.

Each fish was playing a part in their habitat. Some were picking up rocks off the bottom and spitting them back out, checking for food and cleaning algae. There were others that seemed to be cleaning the walls. Like I said, there were different varieties and sizes of water-dwellers, and each one seemed to be working together to make their place the best it can be.

Now, why am I telling you about my fish encounter? You see, we Christians in the church are like those fish. Some Christians might have a more prominent position or be a colorful or “big” fish. Other Christians do tasks that might not be as noticeable, or they might be a “small” fish or “normal” colored fish. The point is it takes us all! Thank you to all of you for doing your part to make this the best church we can possibly be.

Christ above all!
